The Land of the Giants is located on Upper Holter Lake below Hauser Dam. It is near the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness Area. This section of river is only accessible by a short jet boat ride across Holter Lake and upper to Missouri. Prominent limestone cliffs line this 3 mile river section where large Rainbows and Browns move out of the lake and up the Missouri to feed.
During the spring spawn, Land of the Giant is very similar to great Alaskan rainbow river sections. Trout gorge on eggs along spawning beds. The largest trout generally move out of Holter Lake to the Land of the Giants the beginning April through June and October to November.
Land of the Giants holds true to its name, providing you the opportunity to land a “giant”.
