The Yellowstone river is a tributary of the Missouri River. It runs 692 miles and drains a wide area of southern Montana and northern Wyoming from Yellowstone Park north to the high plains. The river was explored in 1806 by William Clark during the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The Crow Indians lived and prospered along the banks of the Yellowstone, which they called the Elk River. Mountain men trapping and exploring the region referred to it as the Yellowstone river and the name stuck.
We concentrate on less well known areas of the Yellowstone, using drift and jet boats, fishing dry flies and focusing on 16 to 22inch brown and rainbow trout with an occasional opportunity to land a giant. For a unique experience, we also fish for small mouth bass and spot-and-stalk carp on the fly.
